PTOLEMAIC KINGS OF EGYPT. Ptolemy VI Philometor, first reign, 180-164 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 27 mm, 14.48 g, 1 h), uncertain mint on Cyprus. Year 84 of an uncertain era = 179/8. Diademed head of Ptolemy I to right, wearing aegis around his neck. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ - ΠΤΟΛΕΜΑΙΟΥ Eagle, with closed wings, standing left on thunderbolt; to left, ΠΔ. Mørkholm, Ptolemaic 112-8 (A23/P82). SNG Copenhagen 545 (same obverse die). Svoronos 1106. An attractive piece with light golden toning. The obverse struck from a slightly worn die, otherwise, extremely fine.
